£170m tube extension awarded to Balfour Beatty

London Underground has awarded Balfour Beatty a £170m two-year extension. Balfour Beatty was originally awarded the contract in 2010 which included the option for a 2 year extension on the track renewal work.

The two-year extension will run through until 2018 with a large focus on improving efficiencies and accountability for project managers on delivering cost cuts and delivering the safest possible standard of work.

Balfour Beatty will continue to provide design, labour, plant, and materials, as well as surveying, supervision and management of the works. The scope of works includes points and crossings and ballasted track renewal installation together with associated drainage, signalling, traction power and conductor rail works.
